When to Throw a Baby Shower

Baby Shower Etiquette!
If you are throwing a Baby Shower then as the host you will want to make sure that you follow the correct Etiquette code and rules. Etiquette refers to the ceremonial code of polite society. Obviously things have changed in modern times but, just like weddings, there are still rules of etiquette for Showers.

When to Throw a Baby Shower - Date
Baby Showers are usually given four to six weeks before the baby's due date.  Having the baby shower well before the baby's due date is a good idea as baby's sometimes like to arrive early! Having the shower well before the due date means the mom to be can enjoy it more! The new parents can then see what gifts have been given to them and buy anything extra they might need. It also gives parents to be more time to prepare for the arrival of their new baby. After the baby shower the new mom will want to wash the clothes that she has been given, put everything away and still have the energy to go shopping for any other items she needs!  If the shower is held too close to the babies due date then the mom to be might not have the energy to do all this!

When to Throw a Baby Shower - Welcome Shower
It is getting popular to host a baby shower after the baby's arrival. This type of celebration is known as either a Baby Shower or more commonly a Welcome Shower. A Welcome Shower gives guests the opportunity to buy gender specific gifts and is a great chance for close family and friends to meet the new addition. Having a Welcome Shower gives the new parents more time to spend with their new addition as they are seeing everyone at the same time! Entertaining visitors can be stressful for new parents who would rather spend the precious time together with their new baby instead of entertaining a never ending stream of visitors over a period of weeks. It is also popular to hold Welcome Showers are for adopted babies.

Babies become part of families in different ways. An adoption shower is a fantastic way to welcome a new child of any age to the family.

Couples Shower

It is becoming popular to hold a shower for both the expectant parents.  A Couples shower honors both parents so the new dad doesn't miss out on the attention.

Grandparents Shower

Grandparents like to share the excitement of a new addition to the family. This type of shower is ideal for grandparents, it ensures they have their own supply of baby equipment in preparation for baby sitting!

Daddy's Shower

Dads like to celebrate too! A Dads shower is a great way for an expectant dad to prepare for the arrival of a new baby.

Co-Workers Shower

It is popular for a working mom-to-be to have more than one baby shower. Having a baby shower with her co-workers and held during a lunch-break is a great way for co-workers to wish the mom-to-be luck.
